Designing Your Program

The main feature of a Physician Wellness Program (PWP) is a mechanism that provides a limited number of confidential counseling or coaching (“therapy”) services to members as a benefit of medical society membership. This is very similar in design to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which is oftentimes bundled with or added onto health insurance policies. An EAP provides employees the opportunity to seek a limited number of counseling sessions which are usually paid for 100% by the employer.
