Tool Kit
Second Edition

The first LifeBridge Tool Kit was published in 2018 and made freely available to medical societies and others interested in starting a Physician Wellness Program (PWP). The tool kit outlined the decision-making process of starting and managing a program like this with successful program models and sample materials. Over the past several years, we have traced more than 30 PWPs that have started, with many of them adopting the LifeBridge Physician Wellness Program name as provided for in this tool kit.

Since 2018, the tool kit has been downloaded by and distributed to hundreds of organizations, institutions, and individuals who are concerned about how provide support for those who practice medicine. While this information is still valid and useful, the landscape around physician well-being has shifted and we felt an update was needed.
Over the past few years, we have documented best and emerging practices among medical societies operating PWPs. This edition provides several years of lessons learned, examples of new models and collaborations, and other innovations. Moreover, we also found that the very act of starting and operating a PWP gives organizations a place at the table to discuss upstream healthcare environment issues that cause clinician distress. We have also included resources for getting involved in those conversations.
 
We are grateful to The Physicians Foundation which has provided funding not only for publication of both editions of the tool kit, but also startup grant money for new PWPs run by medical societies. We are also thankful for those who have shared their experiences and hope they serve as an inspiration to those willing to work on these challenges.
